In the course of a caesarean section the uterine vessels of one side are severed, the bleeding is stopped by bilateral ligation of the internal iliac (hypogastric) arteries. Sufficient collateral circulation in the true pelvis is proved by arteriography on the 6th postoperative day. The findings are discussed.
