The evolution of trauma and emergency medicine.

One hundred and fifty years ago Hartford Hospital was created in response to a major disaster and traumatic event. The field of traumatology and emergency medicine has grown through adolescence and is now a mature program at Hartford Hospital and a full department within the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. It will continue its mission to provide excellence in clinical care to ill and injured citizens as well as to educate all levels of practitioners and report results of scientific investigations and programmatic developments within the specialty.
