Modified vertical mattress technique for eyelid margin repair.

BACKGROUND

Eyelid margin repair requires meticulous technique to avoid trichiasis, inadequate cosmesis, and eye injury.

OBJECTIVE

The objective was to describe a simplified repair technique for simple eyelid margin defects.

METHODS

A simplified technique for eyelid margin repair using a vertical mattress suture just posterior to the gray line is described.

RESULTS

This simplified technique allows for excellent eyelid margin repair with a low incidence of notching and a high level of cosmetic satisfaction.

CONCLUSION

Eyelid margin repair using an absorbable vertical mattress suture allows for excellent wound healing and cosmesis.
