Capillaroscopy with fibreoptic video microscope.

A new method of skin capillaroscopy for the evaluation of cutaneous capillaries is presented. The technique is based on a fibreoptic video microscope, using an optical surface sensor attached by a flexible fibreoptic system connected with a TV monitor. Colour or black and white hard copies as well as videotapes can be obtained for documentation. The system enables rapid investigation of skin areas of all parts of the body including mucous membranes.
