Abstract
A fringe signal generator for checking performance of a fringe shift measuring system has been devised. A pair of fringe signals in phase quadrature are provided by the generator with an electric input signal. The accuracy of the outputs is about 0.01 fringe over 2.5 fringe and its response is up to 1 fringe/60 micros. Nonlinearity of a fringe shift measuring system was tested by the generator.
