The objectification of procreation and its products - i.e. their separation from their normal human context and meaning - is an inevitable consequence of assisted reproduction technology. This should be a matter for serious ethical reflection, for we are all diminished if becoming a mother or a father, or carrying a child, or if children themselves are stripped of their profound human meanings.
