To report a case of a combined retinoschisis-detachment progressing to foveal involvement managed by observation.
This is a case report with a 19-month follow-up period. Clinical examination, fundus photography, and optical coherence tomography were used to follow the retinal findings over time.
A 61-year-old man presented with 20/20 vision with a retinoschisis-detachment. The detachment progressed to involve the fovea, and the vision declined to 20/40. The patient was observed for 14 months, and his vision remained 20/40. Optical coherence tomography demonstrated a stable detachment.
Retinal detachment may occur within retinoschisis. Despite foveal detachment, patients may maintain good vision without surgical intervention.
