Abstract

Tetracoordinate aluminum derivatives featuring an AlNNCR fragment are stable and possess a rich structural diversity, as exemplified by the nitrilimines 1 and 2, similar to that observed for the related azides. Compound 1 is the first structurally characterized six-membered AlN heterocycle in which the nitrogen and aluminum centers exhibit different coordination numbers. R=P(NiPr ) ; R'=iBu; E=N, CR.
