Abstract

BACKGROUND

The immune response of aged broiler breeder hens is influenced by many factors including obesity and aged lymphatic organs, but may improve by increasing the bioavailability of various nutrients such as zinc (Zn). Dietary supplementation of phytase can improve Zn availability in senescent broiler breeder hens.

AIMS

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of supplementary zinc oxide (ZnO) and phytase in a maize-soybean meal-based diet on immune responses of broiler breeder hens.

METHODS

In a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement, a total of 128 hens were randomly assigned into eight groups. The birds received two levels of phytase (0 or 300 U/kg diet) and four levels of ZnO (30, 60, 90, and 120 mg/kg diet) for 13 successive wk (59-72 wk of age).

RESULTS

Results showed that phytase supplementation significantly increased immunoglobulin M (IgM), cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity (CBH) responses, total number of leukocytes, percentage of lymphocytes, and heterophil to lymphocyte ratios. The percentage of basophils and monocytes, however, decreased with phytase supplementation. Supplementation of ZnO increased anti-sheep red blood cells (SRBC) antibody titer, IgM, CBH responses, the total number of leukocytes, and the percentage of lymphocytes. Dietary supplementation of ZnO decreased the percentage of heterophil, and heterophil to lymphocyte ratio. A significant interaction effect of phytase and ZnO was found on the total number of leukocytes and percentage of lymphocytes.

CONCLUSION

Dietary supplementation of ZnO (90 mg/kg diet) and phytase had some positive effects on improving immune responses in broiler breeder hens.

背景

老龄肉种鸡的免疫反应受多种因素影响,包括肥胖和淋巴器官老化,但通过提高锌(Zn)等多种营养素的生物利用率可能会有所改善。日粮中添加植酸酶可提高老龄肉种鸡对锌的利用率。

目的

本研究旨在探讨在以玉米-豆粕为基础的日粮中添加氧化锌(ZnO)和植酸酶对肉种鸡免疫反应的影响。

方法

采用2×4析因设计,将128只母鸡随机分为8组。这些鸡连续13周(59-72周龄)接受两种水平的植酸酶(0或300 U/kg日粮)和四种水平的ZnO(30、60、90和120 mg/kg日粮)。

结果

结果表明,添加植酸酶显著提高了免疫球蛋白M(IgM)、皮肤嗜碱性粒细胞超敏反应(CBH)、白细胞总数、淋巴细胞百分比以及异嗜性粒细胞与淋巴细胞比例。然而,添加植酸酶后嗜碱性粒细胞和单核细胞百分比降低。添加ZnO提高了抗绵羊红细胞(SRBC)抗体效价、IgM、CBH反应、白细胞总数和淋巴细胞百分比。日粮中添加ZnO降低了异嗜性粒细胞百分比和异嗜性粒细胞与淋巴细胞比例。发现植酸酶和ZnO对白细胞总数和淋巴细胞百分比有显著的交互作用。

结论

日粮中添加ZnO(90 mg/kg日粮)和植酸酶对改善肉种鸡的免疫反应有一些积极作用。
