PURPOSE
To evaluate the effect of extrascleral cryocoagulation for the treatment of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) during retinal detachment repair.
METHODS
Patients with a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment associated with peripheral PVR Grade C star-folds were included in this study and analysed retrospectively. In all patients, PVR star-folds were treated by extrascleral cryocoagulation.
RESULTS
A total of six patients with a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment associated with at least one peripheral PVR star-fold were included in this study. Reattachment of the retina was successfully achieved in all patients.
CONCLUSION
This novel and simple technique for the treatment of localized PVR using extrascleral cryocoagulation appears to be a safe and effective approach with favourable surgical success rates.
目的
评估巩膜外冷凝术在视网膜脱离修复术中治疗增殖性玻璃体视网膜病变（PVR）的效果。
方法
本研究纳入孔源性视网膜脱离合并周边C级星状皱襞的PVR患者，并进行回顾性分析。所有患者的PVR星状皱襞均采用巩膜外冷凝术治疗。
结果
本研究共纳入6例孔源性视网膜脱离合并至少1个周边PVR星状皱襞的患者。所有患者视网膜均成功复位。
结论
这种使用巩膜外冷凝术治疗局限性PVR的新颖且简单的技术似乎是一种安全有效的方法，手术成功率良好。
