In 2001, Cristobal dos Remedios was made Professor of Anatomy (now emeritus) within Australia's highest-ranked university (University of Sydney). For the majority of his career, he has examined the biomechanics and biophysics of human muscle contraction. To coincide with the occasion of his 80 birthday, this Special Issue has commissioned a collection of review articles from experts exploring biophysical subjects within the general areas of human anatomy and physiology. After introducing the scope and contents of the Issue, we provide a short scientific biography, placing his scientific achievements within the context of the course of his life's developments.
2001年，克里斯托瓦尔·多斯·雷梅迪奥斯成为澳大利亚排名最高的大学（悉尼大学）的解剖学教授（现为名誉教授）。在其职业生涯的大部分时间里，他都在研究人类肌肉收缩的生物力学和生物物理学。为庆祝他的80岁生日，本期特刊委托专家撰写了一系列综述文章，探讨人体解剖学和生理学一般领域内的生物物理主题。在介绍本期特刊的范围和内容之后，我们提供了一篇简短的科学传记，将他的科学成就置于其一生发展的背景之中。
