Abstract

The use of Cannabis for medicinal purposes has been documented since ancient times, where one of its principal cannabinoids extracted from , cannabidiol (CBD), has emerged over the last few years as a promising molecule with anti-seizure potential. Here, we present an overview of recent literature pointing out CBD's pharmacological profile (solubility, metabolism, drug-drug interactions, etc.,), CBD's interactions with multiple molecular targets as well as advances in preclinical research concerning its anti-seizure effect on both acute seizure models and chronic models of epilepsy. We also highlight the recent attention that has been given to other natural cannabinoids and to synthetic derivatives of CBD as possible compounds with therapeutic anti-seizure potential. All the scientific research reviewed here encourages to continue to investigate the probable therapeutic efficacy of CBD and its related compounds not only in epilepsy but also and specially in drug-resistant epilepsy, since there is a dire need for new and effective drugs to treat this disease.

大麻的药用用途自古就有记载,其主要大麻素之一——大麻二酚(CBD),在过去几年中作为一种具有抗惊厥潜力的有前途的分子而崭露头角。在这里,我们概述了最近的文献,指出了 CBD 的药理学特性(溶解性、代谢、药物相互作用等)、CBD 与多种分子靶点的相互作用以及关于其抗惊厥作用的临床前研究进展,包括急性惊厥模型和慢性癫痫模型。我们还强调了最近对其他天然大麻素和 CBD 的合成衍生物的关注,因为它们可能是具有治疗抗惊厥潜力的化合物。这里回顾的所有科学研究都鼓励继续研究 CBD 及其相关化合物的可能治疗效果,不仅在癫痫中,而且特别是在耐药性癫痫中,因为非常需要新的和有效的药物来治疗这种疾病。
