Tritium (H) is one of the important long-lived radioisotopes in the gaseous effluent released from Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR). For the first time, the studies on diurnal variation of atmospheric tritium concentration was carried out using an in-house developed automatic air moisture collection sampler at Kakrapar Gujarat site, India, where PHWRs are operational. Correlation of diurnal variation of atmospheric tritium concentration with meteorological parameters such as absolute humidity, ambient temperature and wind speed is studied and presented in this paper. Positive and significant correlation of atmospheric H concentration was observed with respect to the absolute humidity. Negative correlation was observed in ambient temperature and wind speed. The diurnal maximum and minimum of H concentration was found during 21.00-23.00 h (night) and 13.00-16.00 h (day), respectively.
氚(H)是压水重水反应堆(PHWR)排放的气态流出物中重要的长寿命放射性同位素之一。在印度古吉拉特邦卡卡帕地区(该地区有压水重水反应堆运行),首次使用自行研发的自动空气湿度采集采样器对大气中氚浓度的日变化进行了研究。本文研究并呈现了大气中氚浓度日变化与绝对湿度、环境温度和风速等气象参数之间的相关性。观察到大气中H浓度与绝对湿度呈正相关且具有显著性。在环境温度和风速方面观察到负相关。H浓度的日最大值和最小值分别出现在21:00 - 23:00(夜间)和13:00 - 16:00(白天)。
