Abstract
The term cerebral protection has been incorporated into medical terminology to imply amelioration of acute neurological damage caused by a relative lack of metabolic substrate for cells in the central nervous system. For example this may result from hypoxaemia, cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, inflammation, or metabolic abnormalities.
