Abstract

A novel and efficient strategy for the synthesis of a series of structurally interesting benzazepine derivatives via an -heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed regioselective intramolecular radical cyclization has been developed. This protocol features good regioselectivity, good functional-group compatibility, and wide substrate scope, providing a transition-metal- and oxidant-free pathway to access the seven-membered rings under mild reaction conditions. Additionally, further transformation of benzazepines and a large-scale experiment were also conducted.
