Abstract
Ophthalmoscopic abnormalities of the optic disk may signal the presence of acquired intracranial disease; or the disk anomaly may be congenital and only mimic an acquired disk change; or the disk anomaly may be acquired but caused by a purely ocular disease. The abnormal disk may be elevated, excavated, or flat and may be abnormal in color, contour, or size.
