Amputation or exarticulation are the easiest and safest ways to effect a radical cure of a malignant musculo-skeletal tumor. With progress in adjuvant chemotherapy and development of endoprosthetic devices tumor resections became more important for limb salvage procedures. Competitive surgical techniques for curative treatment always require radical tumor elimination.
