Abstract

In Escherichia coli K12, the system responsible for chromosomal raffinose fermentation is; a) dependent of the enzyme system necessary for sucrose fermentation, b) facilitated by both the permeases of lactose (lacY) and of melibiose (melB) at 37 degrees C and 25 degrees C respectively.
