Transient length responses of heart muscle in Ba2+-contracture to stepwise tension reductions.

The transient length response to the cat papillary muscle in Ba2+-contracture to stepwise tension reduction was found to consist of four different phases. This result is discussed in relation to the transient tension response of the same preparation observed in the previous length-clamp experiments.
