4-Hydroxy-5-oxo-4,5-dihydrobenzo(a)pyrene, a new metabolite of benzo(a)pyrene.

The detection and the isolation in phenobarbital-induced rat liver microsomal incubation systems of a new metabolite of benzo(a)pyrene are described. The structure of this metabolite and the way in which it is formed are described.
