[Hypothyroïdism during lithium treatment (author's transl)].

Five patients, who were treated with lithium at the time their hypothyroidism was discovered, are presented. Three of them had high levels of circulating antithyroid antibodies; one had been thyroidectomized several years ago and the last subject had congenital agenesis of one thyroid lobe. The relationship between hypothyroidism and preexisting thyroid abnormalities in patients receiving lithium is suggested.
