Abstract

A survey was conducted to examine what constitutes provocation for 70 women and 60 men respectively. Results indicated that women are most angered by condescending treatment regardless of the sex of the provoker, while men's hostile feelings are triggered by a man's physical or verbal aggression or a woman's condescending attitude.
