The Intravenous Nurses Society (INS) recognizes the use of unlicensed assistive personnel in nursing. The Society believes unlicensed assistive personnel may assist the registered nurse in preparing equipment and recording statistics; however, to ensure that safe, quality nursing care is provided to all patients receiving infusion therapies, the Intravenous Nurses Society strongly recommends that unlicensed assistive personnel not be used in the role of delivering intravenous therapy.
