To be at the leading edge in today's rapidly changing world of health care and respond to increasing consumer demands, medical groups must be willing to implement new concepts. The utilization of nurse practitioners is one such concept. Before implementation, however, the idea should be thoroughly reviewed from all standpoints, including role of the practitioner, education and training, scope and areas of practice, legalities, billing, third-party reimbursement, record documentation, income distribution, and control of practice.
