The mandibular body ostectomy operation is indicated for specific cases of mandibular prognathism where posterior occlusion is to remain unchanged. It may be done in one stage intraorally. The lap joint modification has proved advantageous to the surgeon and to the patient by assuring union and by reducing the period of immobilization.
