To study the effect of distraction osteogenesis of mandibular ramus in correcting hemifacial microsomia.
From December 1997 to March 2000 two kinds of mandibular distractors made in Germany and China were used in 11 cases with hemifacial microsomia aged 4.5 approximately 23 years (on average 14.1 years). Orthodontic treatment was given during the distraction. LeFort I osteotomy and genioplasty were performed in 5 cases and 4 cases respectively.
The treated mandibular rami were lengthened 15 approximately 30 mm. No infection and dysosteogenesis was found. In only one case, the distractor failed to function at the third day of treatment and was replaced. The distractor was removed after 3 months while new bone was formed in all cases. All of the patients and their family members expressed their satisfaction with the results of treatment.
Mandibular distraction osteogenesis is the most effective procedure for correcting hemifacial microsomia.
研究下颌升支牵张成骨在矫正半侧颜面短小畸形中的作用。
1997年12月至2000年3月,对11例年龄在4.5岁至23岁(平均14.1岁)的半侧颜面短小畸形患者使用了德国和中国生产的两种下颌牵张器。牵张过程中进行正畸治疗。分别对5例患者实施了LeFort I型截骨术,对4例患者实施了颏成形术。
治疗后的下颌升支延长了15至30毫米。未发现感染和成骨不良情况。仅1例患者在治疗第3天时牵张器出现故障并进行了更换。3个月后取出牵张器,所有病例均形成了新骨。所有患者及其家属对治疗效果均表示满意。
下颌牵张成骨是矫正半侧颜面短小畸形最有效的方法。
