Judging by her experience gained in the south of Tunisia, the author suggests that instead of sending individual ophthalmologists to the developing countries it would be more advantageous to send mobile work teams in vehicles equipped with ophthalmological examination and surgical instruments and apparatus. This would be a suitable reply to the appeal made by the World Health Organization in 1973 for organising large-scale surgical treatment of cataracts with international participation within the framework of struggle against blindness in the world.
