Electrodiagnosis has a key role in the evaluation of patients presenting with weakness. The electrodiagnostician should maintain a broad inclusive differential diagnosis and tailor the examination using a sound conceptual framework. A clear understanding of what is normal provides the proper foundation upon which to judge electrodiagnostic findings.
