An extract, which contained deoxyribonucleic acid, from a penicillin-sensitive hospital strain of Staphylococcus aureus conferred the property of sensitivity upon a penicillin-resistant strain of the same species, with the phage type of the sensitized S. aureus remaining unchanged after transformation.
