Case scenario: Roy Dawes has been diagnosed as having diabetes, but is not prepared to keep to the necessary diet which should have been able to control his condition. In particular he is a heavy drinker. He was therefore advised that he would require insulin and regular blood testing. He failed to comply with this regimen and the community nurse wondered if he could be compelled to have his medication. What is the law?
