Volatile organic compounds(VOC' s) in air have become major concern in recent years. Biodegradation of a mixture of ethanol and methanol vapor was evaluated in a laboratory biofilter with a bed of compost and polystyrene particles using an acclimated mixed culture. The continuous performance of the biofilter was studied with different proportion of ethanol and methanol at different initial concentration and flow rates. The result showed significant removal for both ethanol and methanol, which were composition dependent. The presence of either compound in the mixture inhibited the biodegradation of the other.
近年来,空气中的挥发性有机化合物(VOCs)已成为主要关注点。在一个装有堆肥和聚苯乙烯颗粒床层的实验室生物滤池中,使用驯化的混合培养物对乙醇和甲醇蒸汽混合物的生物降解进行了评估。在不同的初始浓度和流速下,研究了生物滤池在乙醇和甲醇不同比例下的连续性能。结果表明,乙醇和甲醇均有显著去除,且去除率取决于其组成。混合物中任何一种化合物的存在都会抑制另一种化合物的生物降解。
