The author considers the modern concepts of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and diagnostics of Barrett's esophagus (BE). Special attention is paid to the evaluation of BE as precancer elevating the risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma, as well as the issues of the treatment and regular medical check-up of such patients.
