To investigate the levels of serum cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S), nitric oxide (NO) and adrenomedullin (AM) in schizophrenic patients.
Sixty-six male patients with chronic schizophrenia and 28 normal male subjects participated in this study. The duration of disease was 145 +/- 120 (mean +/- SD) months. Serum levels of cortisol and DHEA-S were measured by electrochemiluminescence; plasma nitrite levels as an index of NO were measured with the Griess reaction, while plasma AM concentration was measured by using high-performance liquid chromatography.
Patients (12.48 +/- 3.2 microg/dl), as compared to controls (10.31 +/- 3.1 microg/dl), had higher levels of baseline cortisol (p < 0.05). DHEA-S levels were lower in patients though this did not reach statistical significance (302 +/- 156 microg/dl compared to control, 322 +/- 96 microg/dl, p > 0.05). The mean levels of plasma AM and NO in the schizophrenic group (44.33 +/- 5.07 pmol/l and 36.27 +/- 17.6 micromol/l) were significantly higher than the levels in the control group (14.56 +/- 4.03 pmol/l and 32.54 +/- 7.14 micromol/l; p < 0.001, p < 0.03, respectively). There was a positive association between duration of disease and cortisol/DHEA-S ratio and cortisol level.
The data show that schizophrenia is associated with abnormal levels of cortisol, DHEA-S, NO and AM.
研究精神分裂症患者血清皮质醇、硫酸脱氢表雄酮(DHEA-S)、一氧化氮(NO)和肾上腺髓质素(AM)的水平。
66例慢性精神分裂症男性患者和28例正常男性受试者参与了本研究。病程为145±120(均值±标准差)个月。采用电化学发光法测定血清皮质醇和DHEA-S水平;用格里斯反应测定血浆亚硝酸盐水平作为NO的指标,同时采用高效液相色谱法测定血浆AM浓度。
与对照组(10.31±3.1μg/dl)相比,患者的基线皮质醇水平较高(12.48±3.2μg/dl,p<0.05)。患者的DHEA-S水平较低,不过未达到统计学显著性(患者为302±156μg/dl,对照组为322±96μg/dl,p>0.05)。精神分裂症组血浆AM和NO的平均水平(44.33±5.07pmol/l和36.27±17.6μmol/l)显著高于对照组(14.56±4.03pmol/l和32.54±7.14μmol/l;分别为p<0.001,p<0.03)。病程与皮质醇/DHEA-S比值及皮质醇水平之间存在正相关。
数据表明,精神分裂症与皮质醇、DHEA-S、NO和AM水平异常有关。
