CMS to publicly report hospital mortality rates.

Data will be risk-adjusted, using mortality rates 30 days after discharge. CMS has begun "previewing" data with hospitals to help familiarize them with new format. Additional data may help hospitals put previous "negative" performance reports in perspective.
