The authoress discusses the late results of treatment in 14 patients with infective endophthalmitis by vitrectomy. She compared the results of treatment of 13 patients with the same condition treated by conventional methods. The received data enabled to confirm the thesis that vitrectomy combined with an intraocular antibiotic therapy is a method of choice in the treatment of purulent endophthalmitis. The late observations demonstrated that favourable results have a lasting character.
