About one third of all persons who were formerly treated with a Lapband have either mechanical problems or do not lose enough weight. The current review argues in favor of adequate nutrition to suppress hunger and optimize satiety together with effective but least malabsorptive revisional surgery. This approach aims at switching the gut-brain axis, thereby facilitating homeostatic eating control.
