Echocardiography and contrast ventriculography are of critical importance in diagnosing thrombi, only in 7.6% of cases echocardiography failed to diagnose thrombosis of the aneurysm cavity. The data of ventriculography thrombi were found but in 84.3% of all the patients with post-infarction aneurysm of the left ventricle (PALV) complicated by thrombosis. The preoperative preparation of patients with PALV included a regulation of the coagulating system using plasmapheresis and plasmathrombocytopheresis. During operations of patients with PALV complicated by a thrombus, following opening the aneurysm cavity, a wide turunda was laid under the thrombus to prevent embolism. These new measures reduced lethality of thromboembolic complications to 0.24%.
