The two most frequent HLA-B27 subtypes worldwide are B2704 and B2705. In the Han population of China B2704 and, to a lower extent, B2705 are found with significant frequency, and both are associated to ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Two articles in this issue report that the association to AS in this ethnic group is stronger for B2704 than for B2705. Thus, at least among the Han, B*2704 would be the strongest known susceptibility factor for AS.
全球范围内最常见的两种HLA - B27亚型是B2704和B2705。在中国汉族人群中，B2704以及频率稍低的B2705都有较高的出现频率，且二者均与强直性脊柱炎（AS）相关。本期的两篇文章报道，在这个族群中，B2704与AS的关联比B2705更强。因此，至少在汉族人群中，B*2704是已知最强的AS易感因素。
