Mirizzi syndrome is an uncommon cause of obstructive jaundice by impaction of stones in the cystic duct or in the neck of the gall bladder. The incidence is reported to be about one per cent of all patients undergoing cholecystectomy. A case of Mirizzi syndrome is presented, and the preoperative diagnostic approach and surgical treatment discussed.
