PURPOSE
To report a case of iris abscess due to endogenous endophthalmitis after an intramuscular injection complicated with gluteal abcess.
METHOD
A 65-year-old female presented with decreased vision and burning pain in her right eye, 2 weeks after an intramuscular injection.
RESULTS
Iris abscess and hypopyon with a fibrinous exudate was noted in the anterior chamber of the right eye. Blood culture and anterior chamber paracentesis was positive for methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus.
CONCLUSIONS
The authors believe this to be the first case of an iris abscess due to gluteal abscess after intramuscular injection.
目的
报告一例因肌肉注射后并发臀脓肿导致的内源性眼内炎性虹膜脓肿。
方法
一位 65 岁女性在接受肌肉注射后 2 周出现右眼视力下降和眼痛。
结果
右眼前房可见虹膜脓肿和前房积脓伴纤维素性渗出。血培养和前房穿刺术阳性为甲氧西林敏感金黄色葡萄球菌。
结论
作者认为这是首例因肌肉注射后臀脓肿导致的虹膜脓肿。
