["Catatonia alternans" and differential typology of psychomotor psychoses].

A case of "Catatonia alternans" ist presented with regard to the literature on 48-hour-cycles in affective psychosis and periodic catatonias. The clinical association of catatonic and affective syndromes, depending on classificational convention, is discussed. This case illustrates that rapid syndromal switches with 48-hour-cycles do not only occur as purely affective syndromes, but also as catatonic syndromes.
