Rehabilitation of the elderly stroke patient.

AGE ALONE DOES NOT AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF REHABILITATION

approximately 75% of stroke patients are 65 years or over, yet 95% of these patients can be helped. Rehabilitation involves physiologic care, specific therapies, cognitive retraining, family and patient education, plus support and follow up. The process should be started early, pursued aggressively and monitored by follow-up visits for an indefinite period.
