Abstract

Based on current knowledge and our preliminary study, in this paper we hypothesized a novel mechanism in secondary injury of diffuse axonal injury (DAI): (1) myelin debris from injured axons triggers undesirable inflammation and up-regulates the expression of cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-2; (2) inflammatory response is involved in DAI and (3) will lead to further axonal injury. That just forms a vicious circle in DAI. The key mission to prove this theory is to investigate the downstream effects of inflammatory process on the secondary injury in DAI. Appropriate methods are also discussed, as well as the significance in future treatment of DAI.

基于目前的知识和我们的初步研究,本文我们提出了弥漫性轴索损伤(DAI)继发性损伤的一个新机制:(1)损伤轴突的髓磷脂碎片触发了不良炎症,并上调了 TNF-α、IL-1 和 IL-2 等细胞因子的表达;(2)炎症反应参与了 DAI;(3)将导致进一步的轴突损伤。这就在 DAI 中形成了一个恶性循环。证明这一理论的关键任务是研究炎症过程对 DAI 继发性损伤的下游影响。还讨论了适当的方法以及在未来 DAI 治疗中的意义。
