To study the correlation between the blood serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level and the left cardiac function in children with congenital heart disease (CHD).
The clinical data of 41 CHD children were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups based on the existence of congestive heart failure (CHF): CHD+CHF (n=21) and CHD alone (n=20). The blood serum BNP level was determined using chemiluminescence immunoassay, and the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was measured with echocardiogram.
The serum BNP level was 1353 pg/mL (range: 926-2978) in the CHD+CHF group, which was significantly higher than in the CHD alone group[149 pg/mL (range: 75-242)] (P<0.01). The LVEF was 60% (range: 53%-65%) in the CHD+CHF group, which was significantly lower than in the CHD alone group[68% (range: 64%-72%)] (P<0.01). The serum BNP level showed a negative correlation with the LVEF level (r=-0.652, P<0.01).
The blood serum BNP level is related to the cardiac function. For children with severe CHD+CHF, serum BNP level can be used as a sensitive indicator for evaluating cardiac function damage.
研究先天性心脏病（CHD）患儿血清脑钠肽（BNP）水平与左心功能的相关性。
回顾性分析41例CHD患儿的临床资料。根据是否存在充血性心力衰竭（CHF）将患者分为两组：CHD+CHF组（n=21）和单纯CHD组（n=20）。采用化学发光免疫分析法测定血清BNP水平，用超声心动图测量左心室射血分数（LVEF）。
CHD+CHF组血清BNP水平为1353 pg/mL（范围：926 - 2978），显著高于单纯CHD组[149 pg/mL（范围：75 - 242）]（P<0.01）。CHD+CHF组LVEF为60%（范围：53% - 65%），显著低于单纯CHD组[68%（范围：64% - 72%）]（P<0.01）。血清BNP水平与LVEF水平呈负相关（r=-0.652，P<0.01）。
血清BNP水平与心功能有关。对于重度CHD+CHF患儿，血清BNP水平可作为评估心功能损害的敏感指标。
