A 46-year-old woman underwent a Belsey Mark IV antireflux procedure 2 months before admission to the intensive care unit. She had recurrent episodes of major gastrointestinal hemorrhage before the diagnosis of an aortoesophageal fistula was made by computed tomographic scan. A successful urgent endovascular repair was performed in combination with prolonged antibiotic treatment. The patient recovered well after a hospital stay of 3 months, and is still in clinical follow-up at our hospital >2 years after diagnosis.
