The availability of pediatric dental services is considered in terms of the projected decreases in the numbers of dentists to provide services to the general population. This decrease is further accentuated by the dental practice patterns of an increasing number of female dentists, many of whom demonstrate a particular interest in the care of children. There is an evolving demand for pediatric dental services, and a growing number of pediatric dentists overall.
