[Technology and progress in periodontics].

This paper presents a discussion of some selected new technological aspects in periodontology; an evaluation of the progress in diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases today is attempted. The following aspects are considered: new developments in diagnostic radiography and alternatives, microbiological and immunological tests, clinical parameters, periotest method, tooth cleaning instruments, implantation of hydroxylapatite into periodontal defects, guided tissue regeneration, growth factors in periodontal treatment.
