Despite being the cosmetic procedure most performed worldwide, there are still few objective measurements of postoperative volumetric analysis of breast augmentation available in the literature.
The aim of this study was to evaluate volumetric changes in the breast parenchyma after the placement of silicone implants in the subglandular plane.
Thirty-four women were randomly allocated to the intervention group (n = 24), who underwent breast augmentation in the subglandular plane, or to the control group (n = 10), who received no intervention. Volumetric magnetic resonance imaging was performed at inclusion, and after 6 and 12 months in all participants. The non-parametric Friedman's test was used for statistical analysis.
There was a significant reduction in glandular volume (mean, 22%) at 12 months postoperatively in patients who underwent breast augmentation.
Breast augmentation caused reduction in the volume of the breast parenchyma.

本研究旨在评估在乳腺下平面植入硅胶假体后乳腺实质的体积变化。
34名女性被随机分为干预组(n = 24),接受乳腺下平面隆胸手术;或对照组(n = 10),不接受任何干预。所有参与者在入组时、术后6个月和12个月时均接受了容积磁共振成像检查。采用非参数Friedman检验进行统计分析。
