Abstract
The paper traces the origin of the German Orthopaedic Society in 1901 and its development until 2015. The names of former and current Polish members of this Society are listed and three honorary members are described in greater detail. The contacts and co-operation between Polish and German orthopaedists are also briefly discussed.
