Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrine disorder that results in elevated levels of parathyroid hormone and subsequent hypercalcaemia. Nurses have an important role in the support, education and care of the older person undergoing surgical or conservative treatment. Knowledge of pathophysiology is essential to ensure complications of hyperparathyroidism are identified promptly and managed appropriately alongside existing healthcare needs.

原发性甲状旁腺功能亢进是一种常见的内分泌疾病，会导致甲状旁腺激素水平升高及随后的高钙血症。护士在为接受手术或保守治疗的老年人提供支持、教育和护理方面发挥着重要作用。了解病理生理学对于确保及时识别甲状旁腺功能亢进的并发症并根据现有的医疗需求进行适当处理至关重要。
